Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation for therapy-related hematological malignancies in patients with multiple myeloma
Last Updated: Thursday, October 22, 2026
In a retrospective study of 519 multiple myeloma patients, 4.4% developed aggressive therapy-related hematological malignancies following autologous transplantation. High-risk genetics were predominant among these cases. Consolidation with allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation yielded significantly superior overall survival compared to non-transplanted patients, serving as a potentially curative approach despite notable treatment toxicities.
